Make note everything you do - time of the experiment, chemicals used, procedure used etc. Keep a seperate book for the entire documentation. Take pictures while the experiment is in progress as no research is complete without proof. Whatever journals you refer, make a note of them which would be useful in citation and references in biliography. You better use Microsoft onenote for noting down all the information you procure during the project. The final submission of the book might become a tedious process so, start the documentation work parallel to the experimental work so that the preparation of the book would be lot easier.
