Subject exception

Can anyone tell me the clear idea of having subject exception in B.Tech.
I belongs to JNTUK.
Joined in 2008.
My friends told me that I can't take exception on LAB RELATED SUBJECT.
Please kindly clear my doubt about this, that CAN I LEAVE THAT "LAB RELATED SUBJECT" ?
